Virgin Going Head To Head With BA In Europe

Virgin Atlantic is to challenge British Airways by starting short-haul flights to Europe, a spokesman for the airline said this week.
Paul Charles, director of communications for Virgin Atlantic, told Telegraph Travel that expanding into Europe is the next logical step for the airline, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
Mr Charles said any future Virgin European network would involve planes with a full-service business-class section, unlike the no-frills Virgin Express that merged with SN Brussels Airlines in 2004 to form Brussels Airlines.
He said it was too early to predict when Virgin’s short-haul routes would begin and which cities the airline might target.
