Dubai – A Shoppers Paradise

Shopping in Dubai is a winner! Experience the vast shopping destination for the world’s best shopper. Gigantic shiny malls will definitely make your eyes go gaga.
The Mall of the Emirates has long conquered the shopping industry but The Dubai Mall (the largest mall in the world) has also lived up to leaving shoppers in awe.
But beyond the gargantuan complexes, there’s so much more to Dubai’s shopping craze. The buzzy city centre holds big name and budget brand boutiques. The elegant Egyptian-themed Wafi City Mall, classy Emirates Towers, cozy and practical Lamcy Plaza, Venetian-themed Mercato Mall are few of the endless options available to a shopper itching to get stuff to buy.
The dazzling maze of malls in Dubai bring in cash all throughout the year but summer make them a dream shopping location when the Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) are flowing in response to the annual extravaganza.
It’s a shopping festival that has coaxed tourists in during a time that used to be a lean season for the country. The one mastering the entire event is a famous yellow mascot named Modesh after the Arabic word that means “amazing”.
Throughout DSS there’s discounts galore and a full impact experience on entertainment from live music, varied performances, and a lot more.
The best boutique: The Village
Pros: Don’t stick with the usual never-ending store chains. Chi chi boutiques can be found in The Village such as that of S*uce (girlie heaven and the excellent, Ayesha Depala, and Luxecouture. SensAsia is a wonderful spa escape.
Cons: It is indeed a walkathon.
The best way to beat crowds: Dubai Festival City
Pros: Dubai Festival City is a new player in the market. It is better lit and what’s more – you get away from a pack full of people that makes it a relatively better place to go than MOE. Dubai Festival City is also a better choice than Burjurman when you talk parking. There’s a lot of parking spaces and it’s free!
Best for the surreal: Mall of the Emirates
Pros: Ski and Shop under one roof in the desert! After indulging in a full morning of shopping at Harvey Nichols, Ski Dubai can be found down the slopes with all equipment included in the price.
Best for the kids: Ibn Battuta
Pros: Adventure-inspired mall and theme park rolled into one. Members of the staff roam the place in six theme courts: Andalusian, Chinese, Egyptian, Indian, Persian, and Tunisian. They are all dressed in cartoon costumes lifting the spirits of children. Interactive displays of history can be viewed. Here, you can find UAE’s lone IMAX cinema.
Best for chain store galore: Deira City Centre
Pros: It has once worn the crown as Dubai’s shopping jewel. The Deira City Centre is trying to win back its crown with the emerging shopping centres around. Deira City Centre brings it on with the introduction of new brands to its portfolio of stores including Club Monaco, New Look, H&M, Bebe, and Banana republic making it a never-say-die fighter.
Cons: Taxi queues have been legendary reminding teens to lure into nightclubs.
Best bargains for your money: Lamcy Plaza.
Pros: If you are looking for bargains, this is the perfect shopping destination. Practical buys can be found in Fashion factory and a Japanese discount store, Daiso, is also around. Taste the inexpensive curry at Thai Express too.
Cons: Lamcy has not kept up with bright lights and come-on glasses. The interior looks old and a tacky Tower Bridge mock-up matched with a fake waterfall makes it a little off.
Best designer labels: Burjuman Centre
Pros: BurJuman is a chic mall with numerous designer brands cradled in its grounds. Burberry, Donna Karan, Christian Lacroix, Calvin Klein and Tiffany & Co. are all available. Go to Saks Fifth Avenue and you will see more. Cafes to relax at after a long shopping tornado will make you appreciate the splurge.
