T-Mobile Provide support for iPhone

In the UK and many other countries, the iPhone is sold by one mobile provider rather than many. We’re stuck with O2 and in the US it’s AT&T that supports the phone. You can jailbreak it and use it with other networks of course, but you can’t expect any support.
At least, that’s the idea. But T-Mobile has been providing recent support for the iPhone in the US despite not actually being the provider for the country. US consumer rights publication The Consumerist has reported that a number of users were able to use T-Mobile’s customer support to fix a problem on the network that occurred earlier this week. The problem, caused by a system update, did some strange things to iPhone users on the network including sending them blank messages from the year 2012.
Calls to the T-Mobile support line not only cleared up the problem for users but also gave them service credit for the time the faults were occurring. This is some pretty impressive support for a phone the company don’t sell and it’s a great sign for people who wished for more choice in providers when the iPhone was initially released.
It’s pretty rare we get to report on companies going above and beyond for customers even its not a totally selfless act.
