Google Launch Image Swirl

Google Image Swirl is a cool new image search tool that lets users find groups of related images.
For example, if you searched for ‘Paris’, you would see pictures of the Parisian skyline, the Notre Dame cathedral, the Eiffel Tower, as well as images of Paris Hilton.
Click on one of the images and a group of similar images appears to you in a ’swirl’ of thumbnails, which you can get a better look at by hovering your cursor over them.
By clicking on any of the images in the swirl you can further narrow down your search as you will be presented with another swirl of images similar to the one you clicked on.
“Image Swirl currently works for more than 200,000 queries and we plan to include more queries in the future. Available queries will auto-complete as you start to type in the search box, similar to Google Suggest,” said Aparna Chennapragada, product manager at Google.
Google Image Search has certainly come a long way since it’s launch back in 2001 and Image Swirl is a helpful and fun addition to the service.
