Vera Zvonareva

Vera Zvonareva won the WTA Indian Wells title with a 7-6 6-2 victory over former world number one and defending champion Ana Ivanovic.

Zvonareva, the fourth seed, kept her composure in gusting winds that whistled around the stadium court at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, contributing to 46 unforced errors from the fifth-seeded Ivanovic.

Rafael Nadal

Andy Murray was crushed 6-1 6-2 by Rafael Nadal in the final of the Indian Wells Masters, as the world number one dealt far better with the windy conditions.

“Conditions today were really difficult,” Nadal said. “But I have a good strategy and I played a really good match with those conditions.

“Probably Andy didn’t play his best because of the conditions but I played a really complete match.
