Ana Ivanovic suffered a final set meltdown against Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska in Rome on Wednesday, crashing out 6-1 3-6 6-4.

The Serbian, who will defend her French Open title later this month, levelled the match after a poor start and raced to a 4-0 lead in the decider.

However, the fifth seed failed to win another game with the match at her mercy, allowing the 10th-ranked Radwanska to progress to the quarter-finals.

Ivanovic, who has yet to win a title this year, was erratic as she lost the first set in just 23 minutes, but looked back to her old self as she took 10 of the next 13 games.

But Radwanska fought back as the Serbian lost the plot, and will now take on the winner of Venus Williams v Anna Chakvetadze later on Wednesday.
