Cristiano Ronaldo has pledged his future to Manchester United despite continuing rumours linking him with a £75million summer move to Real Madrid.

The Portugal winger scored twice in the 3-2 victory over Aston Villa at Old Trafford yesterday and as preparations continue for the Champions League quarter-final with Porto at Old Trafford tomorrow, Ronaldo took the opportunity to clarify his commitment to the club.

Neither Sir Alex Ferguson nor his player were happy that the issue had been raised again but the Scot did allow Ronaldo to give an answer nonetheless.

Ferguson asked “how many times” he would have to endure this line of questioning before describing the continued speculation as “pathetic”.

On Saturday, stories linking the Portuguese No7 with a move to Real Madrid resurfaced with a fee reported to in the region of £75m.

United ridiculed the reports and while the Spanish club are engaged in the build-up to their presidential elections, with the ballot scheduled until June 14, it seems unlikely that anyone can predict a move with any certainty.
