Barcelona Sign Inter Leftback Maxwell

Spanish champions Barcelona have made their first signing of the transfer window with a 4 million Euro deal for Inter Milan left back Maxwell.

The 27 year old Brazilian defender made 33 appearances for the Italian champion last season and is versatile in his playing position.

He can play at left back, left wingback, left mid and defensive mid but is most likely to be used as back up to Eric Abidal as veteran Silvynho nears the end of his playing career.

With Inter opting to use young Santon in the left back position Maxwell’s chances of regular first team action seemed less likely making this a good move for the player.

Scherrer Cabelino Maxwell Andrade – to give him his full title – has penned a five year deal worth 3.7 million euros a year to the player while the tranfer fee of 4 million comes with add-ons that could see it increase to five million.
