Unique Cave Houses (16 Photos)

This set of pictures taken of houses carved out of a rock face came via email and claimed they were taken in Iran. Without any concrete information I’m afraid everything is really just guesswork.

As far as I can tell housing like this is not uncommon in northern Iran and can also be found in areas of Turkey and Iraq. There is a very unique ‘cave’ hotel in Turkey that looks similar to this housing development.

So it is possible these houses aren’t in Iran at all but located somewhere in Turkey or Iraq.

Their location aside, they are a stunning sight and the workmanship and labour involved in creating them must be staggering.
