Video: Launching Ships Sideways Looks Crazy

I live pretty close to a few naval ship construction yards and over the years I’ve been to a few launches but never once did they do it using the sideways method as seen in the video compilation below.

They were all stern first with the ship steadily slipping down the greased slipway. When I watched this video I thought, woah, that’s madness.

But hey, what the hell do I know about launching ships? Eff all.
