Muslims banned from BEP concert in Malaysia

The Malaysian government have ruled that an upcoming gig in Kuala Lumpur next month by the Black Eyed Peas is only for ‘non-Muslims aged 18 years and above’ because it has been organised and sponsored by the drinks giant Guinness.
A Ministry of Information, Communication and Culture official said: ‘Muslims cannot attend. Non-Muslims can go and have fun.’
She also added that authorities made an exception to the rules banning alcohol companies from organising concerts in the hope the event would boost tourism.
The event’s official Malaysian website reads: ‘The party is only open to non-Muslims aged 18 years and above.’
The concert is part of the worldwide celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of Guinness‘ flagship brewery in Dublin.
