I Gotta Feeling Tops UK Singles Chart

I Gotta Feeling

Finally the Black Eyed Peas summer anthem ‘I Gotta Feeling’ topped the UK singles chart after a couple of weeks hovering around the top five – and getting me worried that I’d need to eat some humble pie and admit I’d wrongly predicted this as a future #1.

‘I Gotta Feeling’ has grown into what I thought it would the minute I heard it for the first time back in May – a huge global hit. It’s catchy, uplifting and happy. Now happy isn’t a word I’d usually use to describe a song but this one time I will.

And how can I forget the sexy video that accompanies the track? Now that’s a damn fine video if ever there was one.

Last week the group also set a new record for the longest successive stay at the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 by a duo or group.

BEP have spent 17 weeks at the top of the Hot 100 after initially spending 12 weeks at Number One with ‘Boom Boom Pow’ before their current single ‘I Gotta Feeling’ took over for a further five weeks.

The single had already topped the ‘alternative’ UK top 40 but that’s just downloads and, in my opinion, not worth the paper it’s written on as it doesn’t count any physical sales.
