E.T. has been voted ‘The Greatest Alien Movie Ever’ in a recent survey of movie fans.

The 1982 movie classic, which starred a young Drew Barrymore, told the story of a friendly extra terrestrial stranded three million miles from his home planet.

The Steven Spielberg produced movie was a huge world wide hit and spawned the immortal catchphrase ‘E,T, phone home’.

It beat Will Smith’s Men In Black to claim the title in a poll of 7,675 film fans. Another film starring Smith, Independence Day, was voted into third place.

The 1979 blockbuster Alien, starring Tom Skerritt and Sigourney Weaver, was fourth and Transformers, released in 2007, was fifth.
