Man Finds 10k Hands It In: Gets Taken To Court!

The government and police are not exactly doing a good job of convincing us to do the ‘right’ thing this week as a case has recently been uncovered here in the UK where a good Samaritan found a bag of money allegedly containing 10k.
Upon diligently handing it in to the police he was told that if no-one claimed it then he may be able to claim the money himself or perhaps even get a reward. Brilliant, you’d think! Do the right thing, get rewarded? Not in this case though…
It soon emerged that the government claimed the money back saying that it was the proceeds of crime, to add insult to the injury they then took Stephen Reilly aged 26 who had found the money to court himself!
His lawyers were unable to prove the money did not come from a crime, so the case was lost and Stephen found himself without even a reward as a gesture of good will. He has recently been quoted as saying “I wouldn’t even hand in a penny now” and quite frankly, who can blame him?
