Bristol Zoo Parking Attendant Email – Funny But Fake

One of the best sources of material for the site is undoubtedly email submissions.
Friends and strangers alike fill my inbox with everything from jokes to jugs and I love it, so keep them coming peeps.
The trouble is people forward stuff on believing it to be true, especially the ‘real life’ type stories, jokes and galleries. I touched on this once before about how so many surfers believe everything they read online and in emails to be gospel.
Well one such email arrived last week entitled, “Zookeeper”. it was a funny tale about a car park attendant at Bristol Zoo…
From yesterdays Bristol Evening Post:
Outside Bristol Zoo is the car park, with spaces for 150 cars and 8 coaches. It has been manned 6 days a week for 23 years by the same charming and very polite car park attendant with the ticket machine. The charges are £1.00 per car and £5.00 per coach.
On Monday 1 June, he did not turn up for work. Bristol Zoo management phoned Bristol City Council to ask them to send a replacement parking attendant.
The Council said, “That car park is your responsibility.”
The Zoo said, “The attendant was employed by the City Council… Wasn’t he?”
The Council said, “What attendant?”
Gone missing from his home is a man who has been taking daily the car park fees amounting to about £400.00 per day for the last 23 years…!
Funny story right? Is it any less funny when I tell you it’s just a myth, a lie, a hoax?
A quick search of the Bristol Evening Post reveals all.
“The Evening Post can confirm the story is nothing more than an urban myth.
Our newsroom, as well as the offices of Bristol Zoo, has been inundated with messages asking if the story is true.
The story even caught the attention of the police after one person who read it made a complaint.”
So the Bristol Zoo Parking Attendant email is funny but 100% fake – don’t believe everything you read on the internet.
