Must See: Human Skipping Ropes

YouTube certainly has some hidden gems mixed in with all those crappy cat videos and ‘human skipping ropes’ is one those must see clips.

The video below is a couple of years old but it can take time to find the treasure on YouTube.

If like me you have missed out on this human skipping rope craze then I’m sure you’ve already conjured up what it’s all about in your head.

Pick of the bunch has to be a group of New York breakdancers who manage to combine the essential human skipping rope idea with some entirely gratuitous backflips to create a routine that looks both a) impressive, and b) dangerous.

In general, it seems to mostly be the preserve of breakdancing teams or gymnasts, with small children the preferred rope-substitute.

Naturally, this being the internet, there are also plenty of cautionary tales of why you shouldn’t actually attempt it yourself – namely, many videos of people failing, with painful results.
